Reflection Over AI
As I have said previously, going into using AI I was completely against it, and couldn't see any positives for it being used in schools. The only background I had about AI was that students use AI to help them with homework and other assignments to get them done faster and better for better grades. At first, when our teacher introduced it I got a sense of relief feeling that homework and assignments would be easier because AI would just do it for me. But, by digging more into AI and growing a better understanding of AI, I was proven wrong.
Throughout the semester I learned that with AI you only get what you put into it. Meaning, that to use AI at its highest potential it's all about the prompts that you put into it. And prompt making takes lots and lots of practice. It took time for me to learn how to make a good and beneficial prompt to use AI well. We learned how to make good prompts in ENGL-1301 by our teacher and by just practicing.
Throughout the semester when the class was stumped about a question, our teacher encouraged us to ask AI and make a prompt to see if AI could give us a better understanding. The first few times of tried this, of course, we weren't successful, so our teacher would show us how she would make her prompt and teach us the different ways we could put a prompt in. I believe that even though we did this essentially just for the grade in the class, it grew my understanding of how I could use AI outside of school and in everyday life. This is a skill I believe I learned that will stick with me for the rest of my life.
